Marnus Back For Bulls
Queensland have announced a 14-man squad for this week’s must-win Sheffield Shield match against South Australia in Adelaide.
Test batter and Bulls captain Marnus Labuschagne returns to the line-up following Australia’s Champions Trophy campaign.
He comes into the line-up in a straight swap for fellow Test batter and last start century-maker Usman Khawaja who was unavailable for selection for this match.
Labuschagne played two Shield matches for the Bulls earlier in the season, with a top score of 77.
Australian limited overs paceman Xavier Bartlett will also miss the match as he leaves for India on Monday to prepare for his inaugural Indian Premier League stint with the Punjab Kings.
South Australia have locked in hosting rights for the Shield Final later this month, sitting on top of the table on 51.76 points.
Queensland is next best with 36.8, followed by NSW (35.39), WA (34.43), Victoria (32.49) and Tasmania (27.61).
The Bulls clash with SA gets underway on Saturday with the squad travelling to Adelaide tomorrow after training facilities in Brisbane were unavailable due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Queensland has also included Redlands off-spinner Jack Sinfield for the first time since 2023 and recalled opener Angus Lovell and teenage paceman Tom Straker in its initial squad of 14 players.
Straker joins fellow Australian Under-19 graduate Callum Vidler in the Queensland squad for the match at Karen Rolton Oval.
The Bulls are coming off a nine-wicket win over Tasmania last week that featured a century to Khawaja and an eight-wicket match haul by pace spearhead Michael Neser.
The match will be streamed live on Kayo and cricket.com.au
