Queensland Cricket is proud to confirm the renewal of its mental health and wellbeing partnership with Taverners Queensland and Brisbane Lions Wellbeing, now entering its third consecutive season.
Game On for Wellbeing: Mental Health Program Back for Third Year
This partnership continues to deliver mental health education and support to Queensland Premier Cricket Clubs and Umpires.
Since the partnership began in the 2023/24 season, hundreds of young athletes and officials have engaged in mental health education sessions and received dedicated wellbeing support from the Brisbane Lions Wellbeing team. Again, in season 2025/26, all Boys Under 17 and Girls Under 16 participants and officials will receive two wellbeing education sessions and 12 months of follow-up support through the Brisbane Lions Wellbeing program.
Thanks to the generous backing of Taverners Queensland, these programs remain fully subsidised, ensuring equitable access to essential mental health and wellbeing education.
Chair of Taverners Queensland, Peter Evans, said,
“Our commitment to youth sport goes beyond the playing field. Supporting mental wellbeing is just as vital, and we’re proud to again help Queensland Premier Cricket and Brisbane Lions Wellbeing deliver real, lasting benefits for young people.”
Head of Elite Cricket Operations at Queensland Cricket, Nick Stuart, said,
“Queensland Premier Cricket is proud to invest in the mental health of our young cricketers, and we’re delighted to continue this important work alongside Taverners Queensland and the Brisbane Lions Wellbeing team. Their support enables us to build safer, more resilient environments for everyone involved in our game.”
Head of Community at the Brisbane Lions, James Dowling, said,
“This collaboration is a great example of how sporting organisations can come together to improve the lives of young people. It’s about delivering life-changing education that empowers individuals to look after themselves and support their friends – on and off the field.”
Additionally, both the Boys Under 17 and Girls Under 16 competitions will again be sponsored by Taverners Queensland as naming rights partner, with the Boys competition beginning on Sunday 7 September 2025 and the Girls competition starting on Monday 29 September 2025.
