Bulls Set For Maryborough

The Queensland Bulls will boost cricket’s presence in Maryborough next week with two one-day pre-season games against Tasmania at the historic Newtown Oval.

Test batter and Bulls captain Marnus Labuschagne headlines the 20-man Queensland squad which will use the two limited overs games to prepare for their opening Domestic One Day Cup matches later this month.

Bulls regulars Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Matt Renshaw, Mitch Swepson, Gurinder Sandhu and Jack Wildermuth will make up an experienced core for the practice games.

Recent squad additions Hayden Kerr and Zanden Jeh are in line to make their initial appearances for Queensland, with allrounder Kerr joining Queensland from NSW and Jeh gaining a Bulls contract following his off-season appearances for Australia ‘A’.

Several of the Queensland squad will look to convert eye-catching form in the KFC T20 Max competition as they transition into one-day and first class mode for the Bulls.

Dashing left-hander Lachlan Hearne is coming off twin hundreds for Toombul to finish as the leading runs-scorer in the T20 Max while allrounder Wildermuth equalled the highest score in the competition when he hammered 159no from 70 balls for Valley.

Rising pace bowlers Callum Vidler and Tom Straker will continue their build-up to the Australia ‘A’ tour of India at the end of the month where they will be involved in the limited overs section of the trip.

As well as the two one-day games, which will be free to enter, members of the Queensland squad will feature in community and school coaching clinics.

Two free clinics will be held, one at Walkers Road Urangan on Monday between 4pm and 5pm and one at Newtown Oval on Tuesday between 4pm and 5pm.

Queensland Cricket is proud to partner with the Fraser Coast Regional Council to bring the Queensland Bulls back to Maryborough for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The Bulls open their 2025-26 season on 17 September at Allan Border Field when they take on Victoria in a one-day match, before clashing with Western Australia on 21 September, also at Allan Border Field.
