One Day Cup Campaign Ramps Up

The Queensland Bulls have welcomed back Australian and Australia ‘A’ players for tomorrow’s important One Day Cup clash against Tasmania at Allan Border Field.

Australian ODI paceman Xavier Bartlett has been included in the Bulls squad for the first time this season, having been on national duties in India and New Zealand.

Australia ‘A’ batter Lachlan Hearne comes back into the side after playing in the three-game one-day series against India ‘A’ in India last week.

New Australian ODI selection, Matt Renshaw, will play for Queensland tomorrow ahead of linking with the national squad ahead of the three matches against India starting later next week.

The selectors have also included the Redlands duo of allrounder James Bazley, who is in line to play his first game for the Bulls since 2024, and off-spinner Jack Sinfield.

Bazley, who started work last month as Queensland Cricket’s Coach & Talent Specialist in the BEARS (Bayside, Easts and Redlands) region, performed strongly in the pre-season KFC T20 Max tournament where he captained the Tigers to the title.

Sinfield made his sole One Day Cup appearance in 2023. He was an eye-catching contributor with the ball in Queensland’s opening Toyota Second XI competition win over South Australia last month.

Queensland has managed pace bowlers Michael Neser, Benji Floros and Gurinder Sandhu in the wake of the opening Sheffield Shield draw with Tasmania yesterday. Australia 'A' paceman Tom Straker will also be rested following his Indian matches.

Neser and Sandhu played in Queensland’s opening two wins in the One Day Cup but will now prepare for the next Shield match against defending title-holders South Australia at the Adelaide Oval next week.

Another paceman, Mark Steketee is closing in on being available for Queensland after recovering from a pre-season hamstring injury.

Former NSW allrounder Hayden Kerr would make his List A debut for Queensland if chosen in the starting side tomorrow.
