The Queensland Bulls have vaulted into second spot on the One Day Cup ladder off the back of a record performance with the gloves by Jimmy Peirson and another Marnus masterclass.
Big Win For Bulls
Queensland skipper Marnus Labuschagne hit his fifth century of the season so far and his third in the One Day Cup competition as the Bulls made the most of their hit-and-run dash to Sydney to play NSW at Cricket Central in their last one-day game before the KFC Big Bash League.
Labuschagne's 101 from 111 balls lifted Queensland to 9-287 against the Blues, before Peirson claimed a record six catches as the homeside was bundled out for 191, with the 96-run victory delivering a valuable bonus point.
Peirson's six catches equalled the all-time Queensland List A record held by Bulls great Wade Seccombe, who claimed six catches in a one-day tour game in 1994-95 against Zimbabwe at Dauth Park in Beenleigh.
Test legend Ian Healy and Peirson had jointly held the record for most dismissals in a Domestic One Day Cup competition game for Queensland with five dismissals.
Two of Peirson's catches came off the one Benji Floros over, with both batters falling to attempted hook shots that they edged behind.
Floros finished with 4-24 to claim career best figures in just his second List A game for Queensland.
The Bulls batting was centred around Labuschagne's century, but there were strong contributions from Jack Clayton (52 from 50) and Lachlan Hearne (50 from 54).
Batting was also to the fore on the opening day of the Toyota 2nd XI game in Sydney, with captain Hugo Burdon (101) and Aryan Jain (125) both reaching triple figures against NSW at Bankstown Oval.
Queensland was 6-348 at stumps.
