Country Excel At Nationals

The Queensland Country Brahmans have completed an unbeaten Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships campaign while the Queensland Country Brolgas have finished third.

In a ringing endoresment of the strength of cricket in regional Queensland, the Brahmans did not drop a match in the championships held in Busselton in Western Australia, ensuring back-to-back titles for the team.

Sam Lowry was named in the Team of the Tournament, as was Brolgas captain Dharmini Chauhan with the Women's championships held in the Barossa region in South Australia.

Brahmans coach Jason Wells was also named Australian Country Coach and Sam Winton as Manager of the tournament.

Sunshine Coast player Luke McInnes claimed a hat-trick against NSW Country while Tom Olsen clamed 4-13 against South Australia and Lowry picked up 4-18 against NSW Country.

Gympie's Jared Sippel hit 73no against WA Country, 62 in a T20 win over Vic Country and 51no against Vic Country, while Gold Coast wicket-keeper Claye Beams hammered 77 from 57 balls in a T20 win over WA.
