Melissa Bulow Terraces Unveiled

The Melissa Bulow Terraces are a new feature of the redevelopment of Allan Border Field and features tiered seating next to Ray Lindwall Oval.

Bulow – considered one of the finest female players to represent Queensland – was bestowed the honour after a playing career that included 23 matches for Australia across Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

She was a member of the Queensland Fire team that won the Women’s T20 competition in 2014 – the state’s first female team to win a major domestic trophy – while she was an inaugural inductee into the Queensland Cricket Women’s Hall of Fame alongside former teammate Julia Price.

Bulow’s 122 One Day games for Queensland are the most by a female cricketer, while she is also the current Chair of Selectors for Queensland Cricket's Female teams.

The Queensland Fire squad were on hand for the unveiling of the Terraces alongside Mel’s family and friends, plus longtime teammate and current QLD Cricket Deputy Chair Kirsten Pike.

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson paid tribute to Bulow.

“Mel is a pioneer of women’s cricket in Queensland, and today’s unveiling is a rightful recognition of her contribution to cricket in Queensland.

“It was wonderful to have members of our current crop of players on hand today to acknowledge the work that Mel and all of our past players have done to help the female game transition into the strong position it is in.

The Melissa Bulow Terraces are a great spot to watch cricket, and I am sure it will be the scene for many happy fans into the future enjoying Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire victories.

“Thank you and congratulations to Mel on this well-deserved accolade.”

The Melissa Bulow Terraces are the latest unveiling of new infrastructure at Allan Border Field that recognises former players and administrators, which has included the Graham Dixon Gates, Judy Harris Scoreboard and Champions Corner.
