Player Story

Jess Jonassen is a left-arm spinner from Rockhampton who showed her potential early, captaining Queensland’s Under-15 girls team to a national title in 2006–07 and winning Player of the Tournament.

She debuted for the Queensland Fire as a teenager and quickly made her mark, winning Fire Player of the Year at just 18.

Elevated up the batting order in 2010–11, Jonassen starred with both bat and ball before breaking into international cricket at 20.

A key figure in Australia’s World Cup victories in 2020, 2022 and 2023, she has also played a crucial role in Brisbane Heat’s back-to-back WBBL titles and is regarded as one of the world’s premier white-ball bowlers.
